Fans Shocked That James Corden Doesn't Actually Drive During 'Carpool Karaoke'

January 24, 2020

James Corden was spotted filming an episode of his popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment from “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and the video has taken the internet by storm.

No, it’s not because his upcoming guest is Justin Bieber (although, that’s pretty awesome, too), but because people are flabbergasted at the realization that Corden doesn’t actually drive the Range Rover.

A fan's post about Corden filming with Bieber went viral because it showed the car elevated on another set of wheels and towed by a truck driving in front of it.

"Saw James corden and Justin Bieber filming carpool karaoke and this is why I have trust issues — he isn't even driving!" the user wrote.

However, it turns out Corden does actually drive the car on occasion.

His publicist immediately cleared the air by offering this explanation to Fox News: “James always drives during ‘Carpool Karaoke.’ However, on the rare occasion when there is a stunt component and the producers feel it is unsafe to drive, we will use a rig (tow).”

A few people corroborated the publicist’s claim in the comment section.

One user shared a picture of the time he saw Corden filming with Katy Perry and clarified, “He was driving.”

Another user who saw him filming with the now-defunct boy band One Direction also confirmed that Corden was behind the wheel.

Other users joked that this explained why the segment was called “Car pull karaoke.”

This is Bieber’s third time in the passenger’s seat with Corden. He previously sang and drove with the late-night host in May and November of 2015 and after the GRAMMYs in February of 2016.

Bieber is making a musical comeback this year and promoting his single “Yummy."

Corden's pre-recorded segment has been so successful, it’s picked up several Emmy Awards.

He has “driven” some of the biggest stars in the world including Sir Paul McCartney, Adele, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and even former first lady Michelle Obama.
