July 29, 2020

Lana Del Rey’s first audio poetry book, Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass has arrived. The poetry is read by Del Rey herself and features music from friend and collaborator Jack Antonoff.

In an Instagram post about the new poetry collection the “F*** It I Love You” singer shares that proceeds from the book will be given to the Navajo Water Project. She writes, “the Navajo Water Project brings clean, hot and cold running water to families across New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona.”

Lana first announced this project in December of 2019 and has now shared a clip of the audiobook with fans. Hardcover and e-book versions of Del Rey’s poetry will become available on September 29th.

In a previous Instagram post, the artist also announced a new album set to launch on September 5th. This announcement came in the same post where Del Rey defended herself against claims of glamorizing abuse and likens herself to artists such as Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Beyoncé, and others.
